Overview
The ability to process and analyse geospatial data at an advanced level is essential for Spatial Science and Planning professionals. Higher-level knowledge and skills in the use of software and hardware, as well as the competence to apply geo-processing tools, will ensure that analysts, planners and managers can make informed decisions. The aim of the course is to equip students with skills in advanced GIS and remote sensing, and their applications to urban and regional planning, environmental management, agriculture, engineering, land and resource management, etc.
The course will cover advanced topics in the analysis and applications of spatial data for planning and management. It will further build the students' competency in the use of industry-standard software and hardware in spatial science, particularly on geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing. The delivery will focus on the hands-on approach and applications-oriented project done in an inter-disciplinary group that will cover urban and regional planning, environmental management, agriculture, engineering, land and resource management, etc.
This course contains a mandatory residential school.
