Overview

Leadership project 2 builds student鈥檚 cognitive and creative skills related to adaptive leadership practice. Adaptive leadership concerns how leaders change and adapt their leadership style across multiple and often conflicting situations. Here, leaders should be able to generate and evaluate complex ideas and concepts at an abstract level and apply the skills learned through collaborative and shared networks. Students will be required to identify a number of behavioural problems faced in the workplace and relate these to a range of contemporary solutions available to leaders. Working independently or as part of a team if required, they will also be required to develop relevant media such as a visual presentation to communicate various solutions to a range of audiences. Students will critically reflect on different theory with the ability to co-create leadership solutions in particular settings.

In this course, students will learn how to adapt their leadership style to different leader-problem situations. They will practice these requirements by applying theory learned in previous courses, to a real-life problem or project. Students will need to demonstrate that they have mastered a body of knowledge related to leadership theory. To do this, students will select different behavioural problems in places of work and use different theoretical leadership propositions to solve them. Based on the different adaptive frameworks identified in the course, students will need to explain these and apply different leadership solutions to solve the problems identified. The highly practical nature of this course is expected to equip students with the application of knowledge to practice by demonstrating a mastery of frameworks, interventions, methodologies and decisions that can be applied in real-life settings. Students should be able to critically reflect on the leadership solutions selected by developing a log of practice.
