Overview
This course provides students with the opportunity to learn and develop beginner skills necessary for student paramedics. This course will enable students to develop a solid skill set that is utilised daily by paramedics. Paramedic Skills aims to introduce students to the skills necessary for paramedics to operate in dynamic environments. The skills acquired in this course will be consolidated and expanded on throughout the Paramedicine degree.
The assessment in this course is competency-based. Students will achieve either a pass or fail for each assessment. Students need to pass all assessment items to successfully complete the course. These competency items form part of the USQ accreditation agreement with the accrediting organisation/s (where relevant).
Students will understand the function and operation of standard ambulance equipment and protocols. Students will also develop safe manual handling techniques. The learning will be through a variety of skill stations and scenarios.
This course contains a mandatory residential school.
