Overview

Sport, exercise, and physical activity are complex and intriguing socio-cultural phenomena in contemporary society. The application of psychological theory, research, and practice to sport and exercise settings can contribute greatly to an individual's performance, engagement and level of participation. This course seeks to provide a solid scientific foundation for further study of the practice of sport and exercise psychology.

It explores the contribution of psychology in sport, exercise, recreation and rehabilitation settings by highlighting concerns and encouraging discussion of relevant issues. Through this process, students will develop greater awareness of the knowledge base, key skills, and professional responsibilities demanded of psychologists and researchers working in the field of sport and exercise psychology.
