Overview

In Semester 3, 2023 this course will be delivered as a Transition (9 week) semester, commencing on 13 November 2023 and concluding on 12 January 2024.

This course will inspire you to understand the important role that financial literacy and an understanding of financial data play in making informed business decisions. It emphasises the insights that appropriate data produced using relevant software systems and tools provides. This course will allow you to conceptualise and quantify the financial performance and position of an organisation and through the use of accurate data enable you to detect trends, and plot growth and sustainability of the business.

This course focuses on building financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills and knowledge that will enable students to make informed financial decisions both individually and within a business context. Students will gain an understanding of how to use financial data and information to enhance performance through planning, managing, analysing, and reporting results. The course will support students to encourage innovation, understand risk and promote sustainability in all aspects of personal financial management and business operation. Students will be provided with an opportunity to understand the importance of networking by engaging with role models from business to identify and solve contemporary business issues through case scenarios. Through these scenarios, students will become aware that the businesses of the future will operate in ever changing environments where short and long term rewards will flow from responsible financial management and value creation.
