Overview
The ability to use information and to communicate effectively and appropriately underpin successful study in all academic disciplines. This course focuses on the development of the skills, knowledge and attributes necessary to use language and data to understand, explore, solve problems, express arguments and reflect. It aims to develop the foundational academic literacies necessary to prepare students for entry into undergraduate study.
Students will engage in a research project which utilises peer feedback in a collaborative forum. Through the investigation of a current social issue, they will develop and practice using the academic literacies required to locate, interpret, analyse and critically evaluate a wide range of information. Students will have the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively to produce a range of texts suitable for a tertiary environment.
