Overview

The finance industry is technology and data driven. While businesses have greatly benefited from using digital technology to improve their financial position, challenges remain for technology companies in their pursuit to enter and remain sustainable in the rapidly changing financial ecosystem. Thus, a conceptual understanding of the key features of FinTech and digital finance such as digital currencies, blockchain, and financial regulation is crucial to be able to use the advancements of technology for improved delivery of financial products and services.

Financial technologies are expected to disrupt and impact every aspect of financial services. You will be introduced to the role of financial technologies and their relevance to financial services in a cross-cultural context. We focus on the FinTech industry, its strategic application, and commercialisation of blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and crypto assets such as Non-Fungible Tokens. The course will adopt a systems-thinking perspective to help you to critically analyse the key issues, challenges, and priorities for the adoption of technologies in financial services, and the new and emerging technologies in different business contexts using real world scenarios. In this course you will use critical thinking ability, group activities and the opportunity to enhance your verbal communication skills by preparing a verbal presentation.
