Overview
Organisational project management methods are increasingly used by organisations to maintain a competitive advantage or to adapt by bringing about change. There is a spectrum of organisational project management frameworks and structures (ranging from agile to waterfall, and from the project to portfolio-level) and organisational project management professionals require the ability to decide what frameworks and structures are best used in specific contexts. When deciding which frameworks to use, this must be undertaken with respect to the complex nature of organisations and the increasing calls for a sustainable and responsible approach to all aspects of organising work.
Whether you are working at the project, program or portfolio level, the aim of this course is to help you determine the high-level frameworks and structures necessary to manage project work. You will draw on contemporary research as a lens to explore how high-level frameworks and structures can be leveraged to best support the organisation of project work in your industry context and make clear and justified recommendations. You will make your judgements regarding suitable frameworks and structures with reference to the operational work that occurs in parallel with project work, the complexities inherent in organisational life, and the expectation that a sustainable and resilient approach to work is cultivated. This course provides the foundations for exploring projects, programs, and portfolios.
