Overview

If the CEO or general manager decides that significant change is required, such as restructuring the organisation, adapting to new technology or adjusting to compliance obligations, there are interventions that can be used to help them achieve various milestones in the change process. In the business world, regardless of the organisation鈥檚 size or sector, there is a constant drive for organisational change to remain competitive and to survive in a manner that is socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable. The purpose of this course is to learn how to manage complex change management issues. Contemporary leaders need skills to analyse the organisational environment including the strategic agility to adjust to shifting organisational demands in dynamic internal and external environments. We will consider how leaders can create a sustainable organisation by practising planned change management techniques.

In this course, you will cover the planned approach to change and be introduced to ideas related to meta-models of change. You will also develop skills in designing change interventions which are used as a solution for implementing change. The course seeks to explore both learning and change, given that there are reciprocal relationships between thinking, behaviour and action. Change must be carefully researched, planned, linked to broader organisational goals and strategies, and involve key systems and processes. You will learn in the course why change is about context, how context is (re)produced daily providing the basis by which people learn. This course uses research and case studies to identify, evaluate and make decisions in relation to change management techniques.
