Overview

Living and working in rural and remote locations as a health professional offers unique personal and work experiences. Rural and remote nursing practice is another opportunity to explore the diverse exciting elements of the profession. Professional practice in rural and remote settings throughout Australia promotes the delivery of care and health experience across the lifespan. Governments on a State and National level support the development of professional practice and career building for nurses, midwives and allied health students, where communities are in need of vital health services. Final year students in the Bachelor of Nursing, can practice in a rural and remote environment for opportunities to demonstrate competence in all elements of clinical practice and apply more complex skills of a rural and remote Registered Nurse in accordance with the NMBA standards of practice.

The assessment in this course is competency-based. Students will achieve either a pass or fail for each assessment. Students need to pass all assessment items to successfully complete the course. These competency items form part of the UniSQ accreditation agreement with the Australian Nursing & Midwifery Council [ANMAC].
