Translating and applying theoretical knowledge on placement allows students to experience public health in practice and apply their knowledge in real world settings. This course aligns with the CAPHIA area of practice, ‘evidenced-based professional population health practice’, and the related competencies. (Please note, that while CAPHIA does not provide accreditation for courses, they represent universities that offer public health programs and aims to promote high academic standards in public health education and practice.)
Public health graduates are required to demonstrate competence in applying knowledge and skills and working in an inter-disciplinary setting. The course facilitates the consolidation of theoretical learning into practice.

This course enhances prior placements to further students' skills and experiences in different public health settings. Upon completion of this course, students should have applied critical thinking and decision-making knowledge and skills in public health program/s. The aim of this course is for students to consolidate their knowledge, apply it in a real world setting and gain `hands on' experience required of public health practitioners. The placement generally will be completed by working on a public health-related project under the guidance of a supervisor. By the end of the placement, students should be able to integrate, synthesise and apply the knowledge from the four core courses to a real-world public health scenario.
