Overview

In the practice of Science today, it is an unfortunate fact that not all published scientific research is reliable and/or scientifically sound. The ability to evaluate the quality of scientific literature when using it to undertake one鈥檚 own research, is vital. This independently driven course aims to enable students to develop this skill through critical analysis, reflection, and synthesis of complex information, problems, concepts and theories, consistent with the requirements of the Australian Qualifications Framework.

This course provides the opportunity for a student to develop skills required to put Science into practice in their chosen science study area. These skills include the ability to critically evaluate scientific literature, synthesise information specific to the student's area of study, and reflect on the student's own scientific practices. Typically, the course will frame the development of these skills specifically to the student's area of study, however, the area of study must be approved by the course examiner via discussion on the course 精东传媒appDesk forum. On completion of this course, students are expected to have gained skills in a body of knowledge or practice to independently analyse critically, reflect on, and synthesise complex information, problems, concepts and theories with respect to today's practice of Science.
