Program objectives
On successful completion of the English for Academic Purposes program, students should be able to demonstrate:

competence in accessing materials, concepts and ideas in spoken and written English as appropriate to the higher education context

competence in communicating concepts and ideas in spoken and written English as appropriate to the higher education context

understanding of, and an adjustment to, the academic cultural context of the Australian university

capacity to take control of own language learning by using appropriate learning strategies

confidence and ability to think critically, reflect and to analyse an argument

understanding of numeracy and digital literacy skills appropriate for an academic context.
Australian Qualifications Framework
The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is a single national, comprehensive system of qualifications offered by higher education institutions (including universities), vocational education and training institutions and secondary schools. Each AQF qualification has a set of descriptors which define the type and complexity of knowledge, skills and application of knowledge and skills that a graduate who has been awarded that qualification has attained, and the typical volume of learning associated with that qualification type.
This program is at AQF Qualification Level 04. Graduates at this level will have theoretical and practical knowledge and skills for specialised and/or skilled work and/or further learning.

Admission requirements
To be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

Resident status: students on international student visas or students from non-English speaking backgrounds resident in Australia

Minimum academic requirements: completion of senior secondary schooling in the home country or Year 12 in an Australian High School or completed 'A' levels.

EAP I - An entry level of IELTS 5.0 or equivalent
EAP II (Undergraduate and coursework) - An entry level of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
EAP II (Postgraduate research) - An entry level of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
EAP I online – An entry level of IELTS 5.0 or equivalent score or completion of CSWE 111 (Certificate in spoken and written English). Online general English course from .

Program fees
Domestic full fee paying place
Domestic full fee paying places are funded entirely through the full fees paid by the student. Full fees vary depending on the courses that are taken. Students are able to calculate the fees for a particular course via the
Domestic full fee paying students may be eligible to defer their fees through a Government loan called provided they meet the residency and citizenship requirements.

All domestic students are offered a fee-free place provided they meet the citizenship and residency requirements as follows:

Program completion requirements
USQ English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program completion requirements for articulation to USQ Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree programs.
Students wishing to apply for direct entry into undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs must meet the Students failing courses in EAPP English for Academic Purposesor not meeting the grades requirement for entry are required to retake those courses and seek recommendations from the Program Coordinator regarding a suitable pathway to gain entry to degree studies.

Standard duration of the on-campus program is a minimum of 10 weeks and a maximum of 60 weeks.
