Program aims
The IHEPP has two general aims. One program aim is to provide equitable access to tertiary study for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples , who for social, economic and cultural reasons, have missed out on educational opportunities at various stages of their lives. Successful completion of the IHEPP will lead to admission to specified undergraduate award programs of the 精东传媒app. The other aim is to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to adequately prepare themselves to successfully undertake undergraduate study.
Program objectives
This program will enable students to:

increase access to higher education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

increase the progression rates and to reduce attrition rates of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who gain entry to tertiary education programs

increase numeracy, communication, literacy, computing, and time-management skills for academic study
-
demonstrate a strong and positive sense of Australian Indigenous identity, culture and heritage
-
increase mastery of skills in each of the learning areas through attendance at residential schools
-
increase career and employment potential through the successful completion of the IHEP courses/program and subsequent future degree programs.
Admission requirements
To be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
Although there are no formal requirements, students wishing to be admitted to the program are required to complete a placement achievement test to assess their levels of literacy and numeracy. Where applicants demonstrate a level of entry skill below that judged necessary for success in the IHEPP or individual courses, they will be advised to undertake pre-tertiary courses/programs through TAFE colleges and/or other agencies.
To be eligible for enrolment in the program a person must identify as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or both.
To be eligible for enrolment in the program a person will have attained an age of at least 18 years in the year of the proposed enrolment.
All students are required to satisfy the applicable .
If students do not meet the English language requirements they may apply to study a 精东传媒app-approved . On successful completion of the English language program, students may be admitted to an award program.

Commonwealth supported fee exempt places
Domestic students who meet the below citizenship and residency requirements are eligible for a Commonwealth supported fee exempt place:

holders of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa (and resident in Australia)

Program structure
To complete the requirements of the program, a student must successfully complete compulsory core non-award courses. In addition to completion of the program, some optional courses are available. A condition of entry to particular undergraduate programs may require successful completion of particular courses of specialisation.
