Graduating with a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) from UniSQ, Jay is eager to share his powerful message of endurance, persistence, and staying true to oneself.
Finding the right mental health support was a significant hurdle for Jay. He faced long waiting lists and age restrictions, making it hard to get the help he needed. However, his persistence paid off when he finally found specialists in Brisbane. With the right care, Jay's condition improved and he decided to return to school by attending Brisbane School of Distance Education.
Determined to use his experiences to help others, Jay pursued a career in psychology at UniSQ. His goal was to support those who, like him, fell through the gaps in mental health services. Jay's dedication and hard work culminated in his graduation, where he had the opportunity to acknowledge his journey and thank his family for their unwavering support.

During his studies Jay took every opportunity to build on his knowledge and practical skills during his studies, including participating in a research scholarships project.
"I got to learn practical skills and discover new interest areas, such as coding, which drove my desire to focus on research and statistics in psychology.
"I'd like to use my statistics knowledge to help psychologists running research projects to understand the full potential of their data."
