Synopsis
This course focuses on wireless communication technology as used in mobile phone networks, including 4G and 5G and the series of standards associated with wireless local area networks. Students will also investigate the quality of service in the Internet with a focus on the DiffServ standard and use a graphical interface to gain an understanding of these topics. The final topic covered is optical communications, looking at the capacity of optical fibres and associated switching technologies.
