Synopsis

Students will explore the resistance history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Students will engage in research and readings related to the study skills of summarising, reading for meaning and sentence construction. This course focuses on the power of the written word and the power of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writing. General study skills will be delivered alongside an analysis of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander written and visual texts. The conventions of academic writing will be made explicit beginning with subject position, sentence structure and paragraph breakdowns.
