Overview
As students undertaking UniPrep come from diverse backgrounds this course provides an introduction to the culture and practices of a university community. The course focuses on developing the skills, knowledge and attributes required to engage effectively with university systems, discourses, policies and processes, and to self-manage learning in a university context. This course also supports students to develop the communicative competencies required to actively participate in higher education. The course aims to prepare students for transition from a school to a university environment. This course contains a mandatory residential school.
Students will progress through a course which requires them to explore and respond to aspects of the university community relevant to their role as new students. They will investigate issues relevant to the context of higher education, engage in career development and planning and undertake tasks related to self-management, including goal setting, time management and planning. Learning in this course will focus on participation in practical, authentic activities relevant to beginning university study.
