Overview

The collation, analysis and interpretation of diagnostics and assessment data of a client's health status are fundamental to autonomous and collaborative health care within a specific context. Advanced practice nursing utilises extended and expanded skills, experience and knowledge in the assessment, planning, implementation, diagnosis and evaluation of the care required. This course prepares registered nurses to make informed and judicious decisions about the use of specific diagnostic tools, the synthesis of assessment data and appropriate therapeutic responses to health care needs.

This course introduces the registered nurse to the advanced nursing praxis of correlation of assessment data, diagnostic testing and evidence based management to determine a differential diagnoses related to scheduled medicine administration. Students will apply evidence based practice to the skills of physical assessment and interpretation of health data and status, to validate the appropriate protocol for administration of scheduled medicines.
