Overview

Slow-onset climate change and extreme weather events continue to manifest in multi-faceted and complex ways. These impacts place further strain on natural ecosystems and built environments, both of which can result in serious consequences for human populations. In this course, students review the science of climate change, and the intersections between climate and human health, before studying risk, exposure, and impact pathways contextualized within a planetary health framework.

The course is contextualised within a planetary health framework. Students will gain knowledge of the variability of the climate system and the potential exposure pathways that lead to human health impacts. Global and local hazards, impacts and response strategies are studied.
