The Mental Health Nurse at UniSQ provides holistic care that considers your needs within the context and circumstances of your student experience. The Mental Health Nurse can support you if you are experiencing a mental health crisis, providing collaborative care and coordination through a university-based mental health triage approach.
A Mental Health Nurse can also:
- Help you cope with symptoms of mental illness
- Monitor and give advice about medications you are prescribed
- Support your mental health within a safe and therapeutic space if you are just needing someone to talk to
- Give advice and refer you to resources and services within the university to support you including psychologists, student advisors, and other support services
- Connect you with local community services where required
- Help you develop your own coping skills such as stress management, sleep hygiene, dealing with procrastination, adjusting low self-esteem, and learning the fundamentals of counselling such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
