Professional accreditation

The Bachelor of Laws has been accredited by the , and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland as an approved academic qualification under the Supreme Court (Admission) Rules 2004 (Qld). This will partially satisfy the requirements to practise as a solicitor or barrister in Queensland, or as a legal practitioner elsewhere in Australia. Intending solicitors and barristers must also complete an approved practical legal training course in order to become admitted to practise law. UniSQ does not offer practical legal training, but advice on practical legal training programs can be obtained through .

The Human Resource Management major within the Bachelor of Business is accredited by the (AHRI) and satisfies the educational requirements for professional membership of AHRI.

Program aims

The program aims to produce graduates who meet the aims and objectives of both the Bachelor of Business and the Bachelor of Laws . This double degree offers students the benefit of exposure to multiple disciplines.

  • understand the concepts, processes and procedures relevant to public and private organisations

  • identify and evaluate the environments within which business is conducted

  • relate organisational theory and behaviour to a business enterprise

  • identify information needs appropriate to their studies, and apply the techniques required to gather and interpret such information

  • identify, analyse and solve problems in two or more areas of business by selecting and using either quantitative or qualitative techniques appropriate to the resolution of business problems

  • satisfy academic admission requirements for membership of relevant professional bodies

  • act within the ethics of their profession

  • demonstrate an understanding of the theoretical framework of subject areas of study

  • research legal issues proficiently

  • critically appraise law reform trends and recent developments and assess their impact upon legal practice and public policy.

To be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Admission to the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Laws is in accordance with for undergraduate programs.

Commonwealth supported place

A Commonwealth supported place is where the Australian Government makes a contribution towards the cost of a students' higher education and students pay a , which varies depending on the courses undertaken. Students are able to calculate the fees for a particular course via the .

If students commence the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Laws and wish to exit with a Bachelor of Business , then they may do so if they have completed the Business core courses; 1 Business major; at least 4 courses in Law constituting a minor study in Law and 5 electives.
