Program aims

Bachelor of Business

Our graduates pursue versatile roles across various industries and at all levels. They are driven and creative, reflective in their practice, and eager to contribute to their communities. They are autonomous, culturally aware, and  ethically responsible new professionals who confidently balance the interests of a variety of stakeholders and communicate broad specialist advice with credibility.  They courageously ask difficult questions, are comfortable working in cross-functional teams and dynamic landscapes, and exhibit the human capabilities to influence change positively.

Bachelor of Science

The Bachelor of Science is an undergraduate qualification consisting of 24 units, taught in English, which normally takes three years of full-time study or part-time equivalent. The program structure requires successful completion of a twelve or eight unit major in a chosen discipline, four units of foundation study courses and either a second major or elective courses. The Bachelor of Science is located at Level 7 of the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Program objectives

On successful completion of the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Science double degree, graduates need to meet the program objectives of both disciplines.

Bachelor of Business

• Work autonomously and collaboratively to contribute to organisational initiatives by selecting and applying relevant theory to analyse and generate solutions to dynamic issues and changing landscapes.

• Evaluate inputs from various sources and stakeholders to ensure that the interests of others, including organisational, societal, environmental, and professional expectations, are recognised.

• Evaluate digital technologies, mechanisation, computerisation, and/or automation to support current and future business processes in the relevant domain of specialist expertise.

• Communicate broad-level specialist advice to others to build professional credibility.

• Exercise professional judgement using critical and reflective thinking and self-directed learning to continue developing as a self-reliant, ethical, and responsible professional.

• Leverage a well-developed professional identity by exhibiting the human capabilities and knowledge demanded by modern organisations.

Bachelor of Science

• exhibit a broad and coherent knowledge base, with a level of depth in one or more science disciplines, suitable to undertake professional work and/or further study

• apply a range of cognitive and technical skills which reflect the underlying principles of one or more science disciplines

• display well developed cognitive, technical and communication skills to select and apply relevant methods and technologies and present information to a range of audiences

• critically analyse, consolidate and evaluate information to construct and implement solutions to unpredictable and complex problems

• work autonomously and collaboratively to construct and implement problem solving paradigms to address relevant issues

• apply well directed judgement and responsibility, in diverse contexts, which are consistent with the social, moral and legal responsibilities of professional scientists.

Admission requirements

To be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

• The specified minimum entry requirement as determined by Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), or equivalent qualification.^

• English Language Proficiency requirements for Category 2.

Applicants for admission to the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Science double degree must satisfy the requirements for admission to the Bachelor of Business and the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science (Psychology).

All students are required to satisfy the applicable .

If students do not meet the English language requirements they may apply to study a ¾«¶«´«Ã½app-approved . On successful completion of the English language program, students may be admitted to an award program.

Commonwealth supported place

Program completion requirements

To be eligible to graduate with two awards, the Bachelor of Business and the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science (Psychology) , students must have successfully completed 32 units in total. This includes 11 core units, one 8-unit major from the Bachelor of Business, and one 8-unit major and 5 electives; or one 12-unit major and one elective from the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science (Psychology).

Students may, upon application, exit from the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Science double degree with a lesser qualification, provided that they have met all the requirements of that lesser qualification.

Credit

Candidates for admission to the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Science double degree may be eligible for up to 16 units of credit based on successful completion of relevant, equivalent undergraduate study from a recognised university.

Note: where credit is granted, maximum and minimum duration will be adjusted in the same proportion as credit, for example, where the maximum of 16 units of credit is approved, maximum time will be 4.5 years and minimum time will be four semesters.
